Charleston Pour House announces lineup for inaugural outdoor music festival Charleston Scene

charleston pour house

The aim of the Charleston Pour House is to be a regional epicenter for music lovers, artists of various mediums, and other like-minded individuals. We believe that experiencing live music in a unique and vibrant setting will foster positive and lasting relationships between bands, visual artists, The Pour House staff, and guests alike. The Pour House is a home-grown, independently operated music venue, and we are proud to be an integral part of Charleston’s burgeoning music scene.

Dance to the Music

We do host kid-centric events on the deck periodically. Under 21 will be charged an additional $5 minimum on top of the ticket price at the door. Let's hope those April showers are bringing May flowers to enjoy with the sunshine for a month full of outdoor concerts. Don't worry, you AC-lovers, there are plenty of indoor shows, too, away from those UV rays. Recording policies are at the bands’ discretion and change daily. Professional cameras with a removable lens are not allowed without an approved photo pass.

One concertgoer remarked that they were happy to see the container kitchen serving food again. That makes two — and surely many more — of us. Kalyn Oyer is a Charleston native and the features editor for The Post and Courier. She's a music festival and concert photographer and avid showgoer who used to write about music for the Charleston City Paper as well as national publications. Looking around the venue after 20 years in operation, it’s remarkable to see the sort of community the Harrises carefully created and maintained.

Less than a month later, one of the state's only Pakistani restaurants started serving diners from the container kitchen that faces the Pour House deck where local musicians host near-nightly performances. In most cases, re-entry is allowed for patrons 21+. Either your wristband or hand stamp will be required for re-entry.

Dogs are NOT permitted at any time on the Deck or Main stage areas for the safety of our patrons. Dogs ARE welcome at Sunday Brunch Farmers Market as long as the dog is friendly and on a leash. Notably, Quinn has also turned up at PoHo to support Colorado-based blues rocker Andy Frasco whenever he needed local musicians to back him up. Besides offering live music nightly, PoHo regularly hosts markets, yoga sessions, mural competitions and plenty of kid-friendly programming. And of course, there is the insanely popular weekly Wednesday residency that Grateful Dead tribute act The Reckoning began at Pour House in 2010. “I cared about live music and knew nothing about the bar business.

The Charleston Pour House is a home-grown, independently operated music venue featuring 2 stages and live music 7 nights a week. While most of the James Island venue's musical events take place on the deck or inside on stage, this festival will be held in the forest. There will be multiple stages of live music at the newly established 6,000-acre Charleston Woodlands venue, located across the road from Middleton Plantation.

When you design with length, have in mind that often you need to make a few extra adjustments. For example, the width of the leg on the pattern that you are modifying might not look well with the new length. When changing the width of the pants legs, follow this rule – what you take from the inseam, you take from the outseam. That way you keep the grainline straight and the legs won’t twist when you sew them. This rule also applies if you add instead of taking inches from the leg’s width. Around 20% of Americans purchased customized apparel in 2016.

The end result was a red varsity jacket that implemented touches of who Cano is an artist. The back of the jacket portrayed King Kong and the Empire State building, a nod to his album “Nata Kong,” as well as a pattern inspired by the singer’s tattoos. 16 Tongue-Numbing Sichuan Restaurants to Try in Los Angeles Eater LA

tiger noodle house

Though the rainbow soup dumplings look like a social media gimmick, the flavor residing inside these hand-tucked beauties is worth the trek to Paradise Dynasty. The menu extends well beyond dumplings, from terrific beef fried rice to a swoon-worthy radish pastry that’s almost too pretty to eat. In the Before Times, diners began each meal by making their own sauce from the ingredients on hand, including herbs, chiles, and garlic.

Cindy's Kitchen

Don’t miss the stir-fried lobster sticky rice, lamb stew, and winter melon soup. Dumplings are the perfect food any time of year and with an abundant number of options dotted throughout the region, one could make multiple stops in a single day. Here now are 18 great places to get Chinese and Taiwanese dumplings in Los Angeles.

Kids menu,

Now that on-site dining is allowed again, the restaurant serves Hong Kong- and Cantonese-style cafe foods like curry fish balls, barbecue pork, beef stew lo mien, steamed rice roll, and Hong Kong-style milk tea. Tam’s offers three varieties of egg noodles, including wonton-style egg noodles, rice noodles, and flat egg noodles. Bistro 1968 is considered one of the most expensive dim sum restaurants in Los Angeles, but its specialty items and high quality distinguish it from others.

Hip Hot

The roast pork’s crunchy exterior gives way to tender hunks of belly, while the roast duck’s crispy skin sheaths moist, gamey meat. Garden Grove’s fast-casual spot Crystal Dumplings is a solid Cantonese spot for traditional dim sum dumplings like shu mai and har gow. Reservations are not accepted and the room fills up fast, so plan accordingly.

Meizhou Dongpo Restaurant 眉州东坡

The San Gabriel Valley’s Chinese food explosion began in the 1980s and 1990s when Cantonese and Taiwanese immigrants settled in the area. In the following years, Cantonese cooking rose to prominence in LA and America. Characterized by roasting, boiling, steaming, stir-frying, and deep-frying techniques that incorporate fresh ingredients and ample seafood, Cantonese cooking is as diverse as it is delicious. Another hallmark of the genre is wok hei (wok breath), which is a distinct flavor imparted on dishes as the result of sugars and oils caramelizing in a blazing-hot wok. MLBB makes its Sichuan-style dipping sauce using a dried powder mix of minced chile and chopped peanuts. The server then adds a spoonful of the hot pot broth to the minced chile and peanuts to create the sauce.

Diners can create custom rice boxes, choosing from the signature char siu (barbecued pork), black soy-poached chicken, crispy seven spice pork belly, or a vegan special. Chef and co-owner Leo Lee uses only organic produce, as well as ethically-sourced, sustainable, and hormone-free meat. The signature char siu barbecued pork uses Duroc pork and is marinated in a family recipe that’s been passed down for more than three decades.

Szechuan Impression has a menu full of authentic Sichuan dishes, like mapo tofu, dan dan noodles, bo bo chicken, water-boiled fish, and even Hongxing diced rabbit, but the star dish is its tea-smoked pork ribs. In Sichuan, pork ribs are traditionally smoked with cypress boughs, but at Sichuan Impression, the pork ribs are marinated with green tea. The ribs are also marinated with dry chiles, scallion, and minced peanuts before being smoked.

Chinese

For those visiting NBC for dinner, the family-style Cantonese meals are a hit. The suckling pig and lobster meal for 10 people consists of a half order of suckling pig, five lobster dishes, as well as stir-fried noodles, roasted garlic chicken, and dessert. This Taiwan-based chain wants to take over the fast-casual segment in Los Angeles with locations already in Gardena, Temple City, City of Industry, and Chino Hills. Inside, expect fast-food levels of speed with pan-fried dumplings, kimchi potstickers, and steamed dumplings served with hot and sour soup, tossed sesame noodles, beef noodle soup, and fried pork chop.

The affordable Cantonese barbecue meats are better tasting than the big-name establishments in the area. In fact, ACC is a wholesaler to many popular San Gabriel Valley restaurants that cannot afford to have a barbecue master in-house. The restaurant serves both an Americanized and a traditional Chinese menu, along with daily specials like Hong Kong egg waffles, beef noodle soup, and even a handful of non-Cantonese dishes. The roast duck is a must-order, and the roast pork is only available on the weekends and can be preordered. May Mei is a solid Cantonese restaurant that has been a local favorite for 15 years.

Bistro 1968 stands out as one of the few dim sum restaurants serving dim sum all day. A hallmark of a true Hong Kong-style cafe is a menu with enough variety to give the Cheesecake Factory a run for its money. The menu here, which varies at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, has something for everyone. There is a wide array of standard classics like pork chop baked tomato rice, pineapple buns with pork cutlet, clay pot rice, congee, noodles, and scallop fried rice.

Da Long Yi’s signature sesame oil is poured into each customer’s creation, a tradition specific to Sichuan-style hot pot. Diners can adjust their spice levels according to their preference — those who favor less spicy flavors might opt for the tomato soup base. When the food is served, the server opens a can of bright red Sichuan chile oil and pours it atop the stew. The namesake Chong Qing handmade noodles are rolled fresh and doused in chile oil, and the biang biang noodles are covered in chile flakes, vinegar, and tossed in a spicy hot sauce. Chef Lee’s rendition of the traditional Chinese celebratory dish beggar’s chicken is only available a few times a year and sells out quickly. Though the ramen and noodle soups are excellent at this Monterey Park establishment, it’s the hot oil pork and shrimp dumplings that appear on every table, along with the shrimp and leek variety.

The grilled steak entrees are served with either rice or pasta and come with drinks. There are also an array of Chinese-American dishes like honey-glazed spare ribs and honey walnut shrimp. Alice’s Kitchen is operated by the family that opened the original Delicious Food Corner in Monterey Park.

Nature Pagoda is a tiny mom-and-pop spot that has been around since the ’90s. The entire menu is based on traditional Chinese medicinal principles meant to balance the body for optimal health. The place serves traditional herbal teas and herbal medicinal soups, but the star dish is the clay pot rice. A Hong Kong specialty, clay pot rice (bao zai fan) is a one-pot meal that is similar to Korean bibimbap. The bottom of the rice is crispy while the rest of the rice is moist and steamed with ingredients like mushroom and bamboo shoots, Chinese sausage and pork ribs, or salted fish with ground pork and tofu.

Succulent Chinese and Taiwanese Dumplings to Try in Los Angeles

You Kitchen has a dumpling for everyone with 13 different types on its menu including exceptional handmade wontons, pork-and-fennel-filled dumplings, and round pan-fired sheng jian bao. Mr Dragon’s ample portion sizes are one reason why it remains a popular spot. The soup dumplings are wonderfully juicy with excellent dough consistency, as are the pan-fried buns. Chef Peter Lai’s Cantonese menu is one of LA’s most innovative and his line of dim sum includes tasty siu mai, traditional xiao long bao, and jumbo-sized har gow. Xiao Long Kan excels at creating an iconic high-end classical Chinese ambience, combining unique menu items like crystal beef (brisket and egg) and varying spice levels with live guzheng musical performances.

Meizhou Dongpo Restaurant 眉州东坡

Both locations offer special dishes each week that are advertised on paper menus that can only be obtained at the restaurant. There is a new dish everyday of the week that may include a Chiu Chow-style or five-spice duck, braised short ribs with red sauce, or a Western-style dinner. It’s important to note that both locations do not serve the same specials and the set dinner is only available for pick-up at 3 p.m.

Landmark Cantonese Restaurants to Savor in Los Angeles

Congee, pronounced jook in Cantonese, is a porridge made from rice usually served for breakfast or at dim sum. Classic flavors include chicken, abalone, pork, scallions, ginger, and thousand-year-old egg. A good bowl of jook should be silky-smooth, which the Congee does just right. Rice Box is the first hip and modern Cantonese restaurant in Los Angeles that really hits the mark.

Though the ramen and noodle soups are excellent at this Monterey Park establishment, it’s the hot oil pork and shrimp dumplings that appear on every table, along with the shrimp and leek variety.

Take home a bag of frozen potstickers to have on hand for lazy weeknight dinners. The restaurant has a cult following and over 1,000 stores around the world. MLBB — as it’s often abbreviated — only serves its signature soup base, which contains 19 herbs and is topped with an additional dose of chile, onions, and sesame oil.

Hot Spot Nabe is a cozy, family-owned eatery with limited seating that specializes in healthy Cantonese cuisine. Their menu boasts an extensive selection of traditional Cantonese soups, including the meticulously prepared pepper pork belly chicken soup, which requires hours of simmering. Among their most sought-after dishes are the salted shredded chicken, ginger scallion chicken, XO sauce fried rice (also known as drunken cat fried rice), beef stew, and crispy large intestines. For dessert, they offer peach gum, a superfood and antioxidant derived from peach and Chinese wild peach trees, which has gained popularity in Chinese traditional medicine in recent years.

Comfort food,

The roast pork’s crunchy exterior gives way to tender hunks of belly, while the roast duck’s crispy skin sheaths moist, gamey meat. Enjoy Modern Chinese Cuisine

In the past two decades, the Southland’s Cantonese restaurants have gradually been replaced by Sichuan, Shanghai, and northern Chinese establishments due to an increase in mainland Chinese immigration. But even with stiff competition, many Cantonese restaurants have been able to stand the test of time.

In addition to an order Mian’s exceedingly spicy Sichuan-style noodles, add on a serving of the boiled chao shou dumplings. The herby chile oil with a healthy punch of ma la takes the already-solid wontons to the next level. Diners can choose between mild, medium, or extreme spice levels, but even the restaurant’s mild broth is considered too spicy by those unaccustomed to searing heat. Xiao Long Kan is known for its “butter,” which is made of slabs of solidified beef tallow marinated with spicy and numbing spices. The brand hails from Chengdu, the unofficial hot pot capital of China, and boasts more than 1,000 outlets across the globe.

Dan Modern Chinese opened its first Pasadena shop in 2018 to serve handmade dumplings like xiao long bao. There are now seven locations dotted throughout the Southland in West LA, Playa Vista, Santa Monica, Manhattan Beach, Long Beach, and Woodland Hills. Pine and Crane owner Vivian Ku’s got Silver Lake and Downtown’s dumpling situation locked down. The pan-fried pork buns made with kurobuta pork stand up to anything served in the San Gabriel Valley.

They offer affordable lunch specials until 5 pm and stand out by providing complimentary traditional soup during lunch and traditional Chinese dessert with dinner, a rare treat in the area. The fish at Sichuan KungFu Fish is served in big metal fish-shaped hot pot containers filled with a bright red chile-infused broth. Diners choose between swai, cod, pollock fillet, and a handful of other proteins.

The daily chef specials and long list of Cantonese specialities makes it a neighborhood must. There are many renditions of popular tofu dishes on the menu, like fish and tofu in black bean sauce, and  Cantonese-style soups that can take hours to make, like the crab meat fish maw soup. Seafood is a main draw here, including the salt and pepper shrimp, black bean clams, and salty fish fried rice. Garden Cafe is another Hong Kong-style cafe with a menu as big as the Cheesecake Factory’s. Diners can order everything from Indonesian fried rice to wonton noodles, Singaporean-style vermicelli, and even mediocre steak specials.

The aforementioned cumin toothpick lamb is a must-order, along with the boiled fish with green pepper sauce and mung bean jelly noodles. The signature broth is made with dozens of herbs, chile peppers, and peppercorns that have been sourced from different Chinese provinces and fried in beef tallow. Perhaps the most famous traditional hot pot chain from China is Hai Di Lao. Although it has many different broths to choose from, like vegetarian mushroom or tomato, the most popular flavor is its signature Sichuan-style broth. The broth is made by simmering beef tallow, green Sichuan pepper, red Sichuan pepper, and a variety of other peppers for more than four hours. The dipping sauce suggested for the Sichuan broth is the crushed garlic and sesame oil dip.

She also sees them as a response to fast fashion, putting an emphasis on the primacy of silhouette and tailoring—things that can’t be duplicated. Classic tweed gets a stylish update this fall, be it Blumarine’s early aughts spin on the mini to Sacai’s utilitarian remix on the midi.

With clear instructions on measuring, pattern drafting, and fabric cutting, this DIY guide is perfect for those ready to create a bespoke garment. Creating a custom circle skirt is a breeze with Heather Handmade‘s free pattern and step-by-step tutorial. Circle skirts are a fantastic project for anyone looking to add a fun, feminine touch to their wardrobe.

Sewing The Waistband

So, the elastic band inside will prevent the skirt waist from slipping down. I like to make the elastic a little more tight so I subtract about 2 – 5 cm (1 – 2”) from the waist circumference. One of the great things about circle skirts are that you don't necessarily need a pattern to make one yourself. If you don't feel like using our easy printable pattern above, with a little math you can tailor-make your own fairly easily. Measure the elastic around your waist and pull it tight until it’s comfortable. My favorite easy skirt to make and wear is an easy circle skirt.

Choose the size of the skirt according to your hips measurements.

Because you've used a SQUARE piece of paper, you have only 1/4 of the circle drawn. You'll need to know your waist measurement, and how long you want the skirt to be. If you get the pattern and figure out your measurements, you’ll know how much fabric you need.

Hemming a circle skirt can be done by folding the bottom edge over and sewing it in place. For fabrics that don’t fray, such as knits or tulle, hemming may be optional. It’s best to let the skirt hang for a day before hemming, as the bias can stretch. We use it to calculate the radius of the circle, to get the right waist measurement, and from there the hemline.

See Kate Sew brings you a step-by-step tutorial to craft a chic skirt tailored to your size, using buttery vegan leather. Submit AP Art and Design Work in the AP Digital Portfolio College Board

ap art and design

Although this guide does not perfectly align to the current CED, it remains a helpful resource for teaching AP Art and Design. You’ll submit 15 images, some of which may show details and process documentation. Images can include fully resolved works and forms as well as sketches, models, plans, and diagrams.

Seek Additional Resources:

Throughout the exam, you will be expected to demonstrate strong technical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate your ideas visually. Your artwork will be assessed based on the quality of your craftsmanship, the effectiveness of your design choices, and the depth of your conceptual understanding. It clearly describes portfolio requirements, course goals, approaches to assessment, and the AP Program in general. The CED was updated in fall of 2023 to include revisions to the AP Art and Design course rubrics and scoring guidelines. The topics covered in the three courses vary, as do the technical skills and knowledge you’re expected to show in your final portfolio. See the table below for examples of the mediums where you’ll develop and demonstrate these abilities throughout the course and in your portfolio.

AP Drawing

All portfolios are assessed by at least four highly experienced studio art educators (AP Art and Design teachers or higher education faculty). These evaluators, called AP readers, are trained to apply standardized scoring guidelines. Each of the two sections is reviewed independently based on criteria for that section. Watch this recorded online event to learn strategies for helping students carry out their inquiry and document their process. AP Art and Design students will use the AP Digital Portfolio to submit their three portfolio components as final to the AP Program for scoring.

The guides outline the roles, responsibilities, and steps that need to be taken by AP coordinators, teachers, and students. Develop 3-D skills in materials and processes such as sculpture, architectural rendering and models, metal work, ceramics, and glass work. AP scores are typically released in early to mid-July of the year the exams were taken. The exact release date may vary slightly from year to year, but students who took their AP exams in May can generally expect their scores to become available.

Scoring Rubric for the 2024 AP Art and Design Exam

This section allows students to delve into a particular subject matter or idea, showcasing their ability to develop a sustained and focused body of work. The AP Art and Design portfolio requires students to submit works showing skillful synthesis of materials, processes, and ideas. Watch this recorded online session to learn strategies for helping students consider and connect these three elements as they create their portfolio. It describes portfolio requirements, course goals, approaches to assessment, and the AP Program in general. The CED was updated in the fall of 2023 to include revisions to the AP Art and Design course rubrics and scoring guidelines.

Your work in your art portfolio makes up the entirety of your AP score for each of these courses. You will work with your teacher or AP coordinator to upload the digital images of your work and commentary online. Teachers should remind students to review the Artificial Intelligence policy before submitting portfolio components as final to the AP Program for scoring.

The Portfolio Process

These images should showcase the student’s ability to effectively utilize elements such as line, shape, color, texture, and composition in their artwork. Students must explore various artistic techniques and styles to create a diverse and compelling portfolio. In AP 2-D Art and Design you’ll develop skills using materials and processes such as graphic design, photography, collage, printmaking, fashion illustration, and others. As the course concludes you’ll submit a portfolio that demonstrates your ability to practice, experiment, and revise your own work while communicating your ideas about art and design.

The Ultimate Alaska Cruise Packing List for 2024

what to pack alaska cruise

While packing for a cold weather cruise may require more preparation than a cruise to the Caribbean, a few key layers should suffice in nearly all weather conditions. Most people know that they need to pack some pants and warm clothes when they head to Alaska, so for the most part we’ve focused the list above on those items that aren’t as well-known. The solution is bringing some disposable wipes to help finish the job. Even if your cruise is a short one, you’ll feel much better having them. One thing — even if they say they are flushable wipes, don’t put them down the toilet as they can cause issues with the ship’s plumbing. Instead, you can toss them in the trash can provided in the bathroom.

NOCS Provisions 8x25 Waterproof Binoculars

Lastly, once you’ve packed everything, review your items and ask yourself if you really need each item. Lastly, carry all necessary toiletries, medications, and personal items in your carry-on. The Alaska-specific items you’ll want to pack will keep you hydrated, allow you to observe wildlife more closely, and keep you looking fresh and feeling steady. One thing to know is that cruise lines will provide a crib for sleeping in your cabin at no charge. Need a checklist in order to pack for your cruise to Alaska? Part of the lure of Alaska travel is exploring its majestic outdoors.

Best Clothes to Pack for an Alaska Cruise

On top of this, add a thick long sleeve shirt, fleece or sweater. A waterproof lined jacket or puffer coat can be worn on top as well. Even on milder days, packing a light rain poncho in your backpack just in case, is a smart idea. While you won’t need a jacket every day in Alaska, if you are cruising during the colder months, there will be times you’ll be happy to have a thin warm puffer coat.

Should I bring a water bottle on my cruise to Alaska?

When you’re getting ready for an Alaska cruise, it’s crucial to think about what you don’t need. To help you avoid overpacking, we’ll talk about what items you can leave at home. This way, you can pack smart and have a worry-free vacation. Don’t forget that staying charged is key in your cruise packing for Alaska. Make sure your chargers and adapters work with your devices. It ensures your camera or phone stays on when you most need it.

Packing is not just about what you bring, but how you pack it. Smart packing means understanding what you really need and how to use your space well. Next, we’ll show a table that compares must-haves and things you don’t need. Packing efficiently is both an art and a science, especially for clothing.

Choosing the right shoes is very important for an Alaskan cruise. Waterproof hiking boots are great for exploring and staying safe on different grounds when you plan to go hiking or off the beaten path. For lighter days, waterproof sneakers are suitable for shore visits. Make sure your shoes fit well to make walking more enjoyable. When packing for an Alaska cruise, prepare for both sun and rain. You want to remember the beautiful sights, not how cold you were.

There should be enough room in your denim jean’s legs if you need to put on a pair of silk or silk-like long “underwear” underneath. I hope my Alaska cruise packing list and tips help you to be prepared for one of the most incredible cruise and land experiences of a life time. I’ve also included some things you don’t want to forget to pack, as you may need them for shore excursions, days and evenings during your Alaskan cruise. In the evening, you will want to dress up a little and avoid jeans and sneakers. However, many Alaskan cruises don’t have official formal nights (check with your cruise line on their guidelines) for you shouldn’t need real formal wear or cocktail dresses. Also, keep in mind that the main dining room can get chilly and you will need a jacket or wrap to walk around on deck.

Cell phone dry bag

The weather on an Alaskan cruise can vary greatly depending on the time of year and the specific regions visited. Generally, summers (June to August) in Alaska are mild with temperatures ranging from degrees Fahrenheit, but it can drop lower, especially in the evenings. However, as a general guideline, it’s recommended to budget around $50 – $100 per person per day. This will cover any additional dining, drinks, gratuities, and incidental expenses onboard, as well as some shopping and activities at the various ports of call. Each excursion may have specific requirements or suggestions on what to bring, so it’s always a good idea to check the details of the activity and confirm with the tour operator beforehand. Remember to leave some room in your suitcase for some authentic Alaskan souvenirs you might purchase during your trip.

Reserve entertainment ahead of time, and stick to shows early in the week

Luckily, we’ve compiled a list of the best free and low-cost activities to do in each Alaska cruise port, which should help give you some ideas. Search for shore excursions on websites like GetYourGuide.com and ShoreExcursionsGroup.com, and compare them to what you see on Royal Caribbean’s Cruise Planner. If prices are lower, or if there’s availability on a tour that’s sold out on the Cruise Planner, there’s no harm in booking through a third party. Speaking of excursions, it isn’t necessary to book excursions through Royal Caribbean. While booking shore excursions on Royal Caribbean’s Cruise Planner website is convenient, you might find more options (or lower prices) by booking through independent tour operators.

Outside of what you’ll wear in port, remember to pack for your time onboard the ship! Don’t forget to pack clothes for formal night, your swimsuit to wear in the pool, and comfy clothes for lounging in your stateroom. A water-resistant daypack is one of our top Alaska cruise packing tips. You’ll need somewhere to put your valuables during the day, so making sure the pack is water-resistant or waterproof is crucial.

In this way, as the day warms up and you become more active, you can remove layers and be comfortable. A waterproof phone case dry bag is an Alaska cruise essential. You’ll be able to take photos and use your touch screen, while your phone stays clean and dry. This base layer for men is a best-seller that really should be on your Alaska cruise packing list.

Binoculars may be of interest to you as well, especially if you plan to do any wildlife viewing excursions. Being able to see the state’s wildlife and nature up close is well worth the cost of an entry-level pair of binoculars. Want to know the truth about wiping your backside on a cruise?

My point is, most likely you’ll need to pack cruise clothes and land clothes. Pou-Pourri is a “before you go spray” that works better than regular air freshener. Cruise cabins are small, and often have only one or two electric outlets. It’s a good idea to bring along a non-surge protected power strip with USB outlets to charge all your devices. Note – you cannot bring a regular power strip from home as these are prohibited and will be confiscated. If you’re planning on hiking in Alaska, packing a lightweight walking stick or collapsible hiking polls will be very useful.

Same goes for silk leggings (Long John’s) to wear under jeans. They’re great to keep you warm, especially if you choose one of the helicopter tours to a glacier…in early or late season. Bring a couple of dressy lightweight scarves to spruce up and change up your look, especially if you’re only bringing one black dress.

This will give you a broad outline of all the possible things you might want to pack for your cruise. When you head to Alaska, you pack a lot more than just a few swimsuits and a hat. And when you are out and about, there is usually plenty to bring along with you like a camera, extra layers, and more. One thing that’s also useful is one of these cell phone dry bags.
